Frequently Asked Questions about counseling in Spokane

Below are answers to some common questions about counseling with me. Don’t hesitate to reach out with additional questions or to schedule a free telephone consultation.

  • I help adults struggling with overwhelm, anxiety and/or substance abuse. I love joining with people who are ready to dig deep, learn skills and make the necessary changes in order to create a life that is filled with peace+purpose.

I do not offer couples or family counseling. For more information about me, check out my About Page.

  • I am so happy to offer in-person and virtual sessions (or a combination of both)! Some people prefer in-person sessions in order to have a separate space in which to have therapy and others choose online sessions for increased flexibility.

In-person sessions are held in my Spokane office at 222 W. Mission Avenue. Located just north of the river, on Mission between Division and Washington.

Online sessions are conducted via a secure video platform in a location that you feel is safe and confidential. Check out this post about helping online sessions run smoother: Virtual Counseling for Anxiety: Strategies to Improve your Experience.

  • 45-minute sessions are $175.

    55min sessions are $190.

  • I am considered an “out of network provider” for most insurance companies. However, many insurance companies offer out-of-network benefits. For more information about the option of using your out-of-network benefits, check out this blog post.

Currently contracted insurances include: Premera, Lyra, several Blue Cross Blue Shield plans, and LifeWise.

  • Payments are due at the end of the session and can be made with cash or credit/debit card, Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) or Health Savings Accounts (HSA).

For more information about paying for therapy, check out Beyond Insurance: Paying for Anxiety Counseling.

  • Over and over again, I see clients making the most progress toward their goals when we meet regularly. Therefore, weekly sessions are recommended for at least the first several weeks.

Sessions are usually 45-minutes in length; however, if you believe that you would benefit from longer or more frequently sessions, please reach out and we will discuss options.

  • I believe the therapy process is like holding up a mirror for you to see your life from different angles. Through intentional questioning, I will help you explore the impact of your past on your present.

You will learn specific skills to help you challenge unhelpful beliefs and make lasting changes.

Overall, I’m there to support you through this process of growth. I will hold hope and optimism when things feel extra tough. I will help you recognize and celebrate your successes.

For more, check out my about page.

  • I request at least 24-hours notice to cancel or reschedule your appointment.

Appointments cancelled/rescheduled with less than 24-hours notice will be charge an $80 fee.

The whole session fee will be applied to no-show appointments.

  • You have certain rights and protections against “surprise billing” when services are rendered by a therapist who is out-of-network with your insurance provider (i.e. a non-participating provider).

In addition, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate (GFE) for any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy. For more information, please review the No Surprises & Good Faith Estimate page.
